Dear developer,

This build represents an incremental addition that features changes requested by some of our customers.

One of the most notable changes is the complete pre-pass readback bottleneck elimination in D3D11 (as well as improvements for other targets), side by side with the introduction of a optional lightweight shader-level single VT mode, both of which will further reduce the performance impact of integrating AT2 into your projects.

We've also eliminated cache size restrictions between hardware levels, added the 3dsMax Multi-Tile UV Bake Tool to the package for the first time, updated the third party packages to their latest versions (e.g. Unity5 support for b19), and fixed a ton of bugs.

Here are the changes introduced in Alpha 34:
  • Requirements
    • Unity 4.6.1+

    Alpha 34 Changes
    • Improved pre-pass analysis performance by moving to async native code; impact now barely perceptible
    • Made pre-pass readback completely async in D3D11; improved in D3D9
    • Eliminated cache size restrictions on specific hardware levels; now scales ram/vram footprints
    • Added faster/simplified single VT shader mode; also more hw compatible (hd3000/4000)
    • Added 3dsMax Multi-Tile UV Bake Tool v0.14 (found at AmplifyTexture/Tools)
    • Fixed removal of pages from table at lowest mips
    • Fixed incorrect/disappearing Unity lens flares when Amplify Texture Runtime was activated
    • Fixed bug when creating Virtual Material when Unity5 integration is installed
    • Updated Lux and Alloy shaders to support single VT mode
    • Updated Skyshop integration to v1.11
    • Updated Unity5 integration to b19

    IMPORTANT NOTE
Please make sure to add the following pragma to your custom AT2 shaders:
    #pragma multi_compile _ _VT_SINGLE_MODE

What's next? (no specific order)
  • Platforms: Mobile, Consoles
    Lightmaps: Legacy, Directional
    Third-party: Substances, ShaderForge
    Flexibility: Custom VT layouts
    Productivity: Real-time background builds
    Workflow: Proxy Folders
Polish: visual indication that virtual texturing is disabled, grid-caching progress bar
    Performance: automated batching
Call to cooperation:
  • If AT2 is a pivotal tool in your large-scale project, please consider providing us one of your larger datasets for robustness testing. Unfortunately we're lacking large data sets and in AT2 we _really_ want to solve ALL scalability issues.

Please note that we're available to sign any contracts or NDAs necessary to protect your copyright. We are absolutely certain that both our parties can benefit from this type of cooperation. If you're interest, please contact us directly or, feel free to reply here to get things started.
As usual, we invite you to participate and help us shape this product. Your feedback is very important to us.
