Terrain Shaders

Hi.

I read here in the community that you're planning an update which will include custom outputs. Will it include anything related to terrain outputs? Anything like creating my own shader and use it in default Unity terrain?

PS.: have i said how amazing this product is? It IS!

Hello Nelson,

Indeed, we're working hard on a major update that will allow you to create such shaders, however we're not yet ready to share any additional information other than the fact that the terrain template won't be on the first release, as we're still looking into it!

Apologies for any inconvenience caused, as soon as it is ready we'll be releasing it with its respective documentation and examples.

I'm going to add your email to our contact list so you can rest assured that you'll know first hand when it's ready!

Hello,

Be sure to download the latest ASE version, it includes MAJOR editor performance improvements along with Shader Templates for Image Effects, Sprites and even UI Elements.

A follow up question: I see that y'all have specific support for MegaSplat. I know that you guys guarantee support for Xbox One, PS4, and Switch, but does that extend to your MegaSplat integration? In particular, I don't see specifics on whether MegaSplat will support the Switch.

Can you help me understand the relationship & support provided with regards to your MegaSplat integration?

Hey there!

When ASE is used in conjunction with MegaSplat, specific compatible nodes are made available, the integration is handled on their side and as such we cannot guarantee its support for consoles.

Since we support the use of MegaSplat content directly via dedicated nodes, you can tweak and extend its many uses, although this does not include product support or implementation on our side.

I would love to be updated about this feature as well, could you add me to that email list? Also, while waiting for this template to be published, could you give us some pointers - how would one go about making a custom shader that integrates terrain alphamap textures?

Yes, I realized it was a bit vague, I guess I was assuming the OP gave the context. Basically I want to use a custom material with an ASE shader on my Unity terrain and I was asking how I could make a shader that supports a splatmap logic similar to Unity's default terrain shader. I need support for at least 8 splatmaps and I need to be able to use proper PBR metal/rough workflow with this shader (Ideally Substances would be better). It would be awesome if you could point me in the right direction.
