Amplify Bloom Color Bleeding

Postby GreybornStudios » Sun Jun 25, 2017 3:29 pm

Hello, I have a support question for Amplify Bloom, but it looks like no posts can be made to that forum? Please feel free to move this question to that forum.

We are currently trying to use Amplify Bloom to give us a magical "glow" effect around the brightest objects in our scene. For the most part this has worked very well as shown in a test here:

However, we are seeing one issue that we can't seem to resolve. Our main character is exhibiting a blue "halo" effect that we can't get rid of. This seems to be happening when even brighter textures in the scene are not giving off a glow. We even went so far as to completely desaturate the texture and half the brightness - but as this image below shows we still get this blue halo effect around her (you can see it in the image above as well even though she has green grass around her:

For reference, here is our current Bloom settings. We have the Threshold cranked as high as we can before all blooming stops so just the very brightest pixels are affected:

What we are hoping for is any insight or tips on how we can remove this bluish glow from the character. Do things like the scene lighting colors affect bloom at all? Maybe a material/shader setting on the character? Any guidance would be very helpful. Thank you!

Best,

Hello Scott,

Apologies for the inconvenience, we have been experiencing some post permission related issues, hopefully it's corrected now.

Without actually examining the Assets, comparing one of the mentioned brighter textures with the character, I'm not entirely sure what to recommend. The intensity value does seem too high, that could be exaggerating the bloom effect.

Have you considered adding more Mips and trying to isolate the problem using the Debug view?

What we are hoping for is any insight or tips on how we can remove this bluish glow from the character. Do things like the scene lighting colors affect bloom at all? Maybe a material/shader setting on the character? Any guidance would be very helpful. Thank you

Almost everything contributes to the effect, tweaking their emission and specularity will definitely help you control the effect. Would it be possible to test a couple of assets on our side?

Apologies for the inconvenience, our support response time will be slightly delayed during Unite Europe. Our developers will get back to you with additional information as soon as possible after the event.

Thanks!
