Canvas navigation - panning - help?

Hi there,

I can't pan across the canvas in the shader editor. I use a pen tablet, but the right click + drag doesn't work. I've checked the navigation options and forum and I can't find any other means of panning.

It's kind of impossible to use without being able to pan across the canvas. Please tell me I'm missing something?

Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch, we would be happy to help!

We've received similar reports, it seems to be an actual Unity related issue caused by Windows Ink. Disabling it in your Tablet input profile should resolve the issue.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I use a Mac, so I don't have any Windows Ink settings to disable.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Thank you for the additional information, we'll run a few additional tests on our side.

Do you experience similar issues with other software or, in Unity, the Animator canvas?

Are you using the latest tablet drivers?

Thanks!

Hello George,

Thank you for your patience, we really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a specific Unity/Wacom issue. Unity is interpreting Right-Click Drag as Left-Click Drag, there's not much that we can do on our side at the moment.

We'll submit a Unity bug report, hopefully it's something that they can correct soon.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Thanks!

Thanks for your replies. I don't have any problems with the Unity animator canvas because I can pan using two finger drag on the trackpad. But when I try this on the ASE canvas, all I get is zoom.

Could you make ASE work the same as the Unity animator canvas with trackpad gestures? Then it doesn't matter if the pen tablet doesn't work ;)

In ASE the two-finger drag is set to zoom, click + two-finger drag is set to the middle-mouse button which pans the canvas. We'll have to check how they handle the recently added zoom feature in the animator window and decide if we adopt the Unity standard or maintain our current implementation that mirrors OSX mouse/gesture input.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Hey, just wanted to say I'm having this problem as well. I'm on a MacBook trackpad when I travel, and have to just rely on hitting F to focus on nodes to pan around. The new Unity animator tab behavior is to pan using alt+drag, which works great for me. I'd love to see similar behavior make its way to ASE. Thanks!

Hello! We've recently introduced a few additional shortcut keys to improve UX for trackpad / touchpad users, which allow you to Pan and Zoom the ASE canvas camera through the following keyboard directional keys:

• Up/Down/Left/Right Arrow keys pan camera
• Alt+Up/Alt+Down/Alt+Left/Alt+Right Arrow keys zoom camera

Please download the latest ASE version through our website and let us know if this helps, thanks!
